Your Clients Aren’t Buying Botox. They’re Buying Relief.
People rarely act because they want to feel better someday. They act because they’re tired of feeling bad today.Pain moves faster than pleasure. And that matters—a lot—when you run a med spa.

Welcome to another issue of the Glowelle Spark — Where ambitious spa owners learn how to turn beautiful businesses into beloved brands.
Every edition shares simple ideas to help you:
• attract higher-value clients
• build deeper loyalty
• create a spa people feel lucky to visit
Because the best spas don’t compete for attention.
They become destinations.
✨ In Today’s Issue…
We dive Into... why selling the dream may be keeping clients from buying, and how uncovering the problem they already want solved can turn “Let me think about it” into “When can we start?”

💉 The Consultation That Goes Nowhere
Picture this.
A client sits across from you.
She’s interested in improving her skin.
So you explain everything.
The device.
The science.
The number of sessions.
The collagen.
The downtime.
The results.
Maybe you even pull out the fancy laminated treatment sheet. ✨
She nods.
She smiles.
She asks a few questions.
Then she delivers the five words every med spa owner knows:
“I need to think about it.”
Ouch.
What happened?
She liked the treatment.
She liked you.
She may even be able to afford it.
But there was one problem.
You sold the treatment before understanding why she wanted it.

🧠 Pain Moves People Faster Than Pleasure
Text hereThink about normal life.
We can put off things we want forever.
The vacation.
The gym.
The new mattress.
The closet clean-out that has been “happening Saturday” since 2022. 😏
But pain?
Pain changes the calendar.

The tooth starts throbbing?
Suddenly, there’s time for the dentist.
The air conditioner dies in August?
Nobody says:
"Let’s revisit this next quarter."
🔥 Nope.
We act.
That’s the idea behind the video that inspired today’s issue:
Potential upside does not always create urgency. A problem that already hurts does.
And that gives med spas a very different way to think about selling.
🪞 Stop Selling What You Do
Your client probably did not wake up thinking:
"You know what would really complete my life? RF microneedling."
She woke up thinking:
“Why does my skin look like that?”
She may be tired of covering the same dark spots every morning.
She may hate seeing herself in photos from the side.
She may feel like her face looks tired even after eight hours of sleep.
She may have tried six creams, three serums, two facials, and one suspicious-looking gadget from Instagram.
Her bathroom drawer now looks like a small Sephora had a yard sale. 😂
That is where the sale begins.
Not with your machine.
Not with your special.
Not with your treatment protocol.
With her problem.
⚠️ But There’s a Very Important Line Here
Pain-based selling can go horribly wrong.
Especially in aesthetics.
The goal is NOT to create an insecurity.
Never point out something a client did not say bothered her.
Never make someone feel ugly so you can sell her pretty.
Never turn a consultation into a scavenger hunt for flaws.
That is not luxury.
And it certainly is not trust.
The pain was already there.
Your job is simply to hold up the mirror.
Let her tell you what bothers her.
Then understand why it matters.

🔎 The 5-Question “Relief” Consultation
Before recommending a treatment, slow down.
Ask.
Listen.
Then prescribe.
1. “What brought you in today?”
Sounds simple.
But don’t rush past the answer.
If she says:
"My skin has just been bothering me lately."
That is the beginning.
Not the end.
2. “What bothers you most about it?”
Now we get specific.
Maybe it’s not “aging.”
Maybe it’s the loose skin around her jaw.
Maybe it’s pigmentation.
Maybe it’s looking tired.
Maybe she no longer feels like the woman she sees in her head.
There’s a big difference.
3. “How long has this bothered you?”
Now you discover history.
Three weeks?
Three years?
Since having children?
Since seeing herself in wedding photos?
Listen.
The story often sells the treatment better than the treatment sells itself.
4. “What have you tried?”
This question is gold. ✨
Because now you learn what the problem has already cost her.
Money.
Time.
Products.
Appointments.
Frustration.
Maybe she has been trying to solve this for years.
Suddenly, your $1,500 treatment is not being compared with doing nothing.
It is being compared with three more years of trying things that haven’t worked.
That changes the math.
5. “If we could improve that, what would that mean for you?”
Now—and only now—move toward the dream.
Maybe she wants to wear less makeup.
Maybe she wants to feel good in photos again.
Maybe she simply wants to stop thinking about her skin every morning.
There’s your real product.
Relief.
💰 This Changes the Meaning of Price
Without pain, a treatment can look like an expense.
"$1,500?"
😳
But once someone clearly understands the problem she wants solved, the conversation changes.
Now she is not asking:
“Do I want to spend $1,500?”
She is considering:
“Is solving this worth $1,500 to me?”
That is a very different question.
You have not manipulated her.
You have not created fear.
You have helped her understand the choice.
📧 And Yes—This Applies to Your Emails Too
Look at the last few emails your med spa sent.
Did they start with the treatment?
“Introducing our new laser!”
“Book your facial today!”
“Discover the benefits of microneedling!”
That is solution-first marketing.
Try starting with the moment your client already knows instead.
Instead of:
“Microneedling can improve the appearance of skin texture.”
Try:
“Still covering the same acne marks every morning?”
Instead of:
“Learn about our skin-tightening treatment.”
Try:
“Ever pull your jawline back in the mirror just to see?”
👀
Now you have attention.
Because you entered a conversation that was already happening in her head.
Problem first.
Relief second.
Treatment third.

The Glowelle Lesson
Your med spa does not really sell Botox.
Or lasers.
Or facials.
Or microneedling.
Those are tools.
What you really sell is the chance to stop feeling bothered by something that has been quietly stealing confidence, time, money, or peace.
So before explaining what your treatment does, find out what your client wants it to stop doing to her life.
Then listen.
Because the most powerful sales pitch may already be sitting across from you.
You just have to let her say it.
🪞 Remember This:
Don’t create the bruise. Ask where it hurts.
Then help.
That is better selling.
And far more important...
That is better care. ✨
